Dragon Quest Monsters+ Vol 1 Mine Yoshizaki Books Reviews

  • From the opening page this was a treat for me. For anyone who remembers Dragon Warrior Monster 2 on the Game Boy color this is a treat. You see Dragon Quest Monsters is the same story only enhanced in manga form, with new characters to help flesh out the story. I tip my hat to the translators that made sure to get each of the dozens of monsters names right.

The artwork is clean and crisp and perfectly captures Arika Toriyama's monster designs. It's a treat to see them all. Now if I had any complaint it's not the fault of the manga. You see the games were all about monster rasing and as such the story took a back set to fun gameplay. As such the story isn't to remarkable and isn't terrible either. I have been MickManga and I think I am going to dust off my old copy of Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 and revisit a classic.
  • This is a Dragon Quest comic book/graphic novel series. The book is in black and white and printed properly for a Japanese comic, “back to front.” My 8 year old son, who claims he hates reading, has read it several times and is bugging me about the next one. If you or your kids play the video games it’s a great way to trick your children into reading. The storyline is definitely kid friendly. Plus it has the great fighter...Terry. I love Terry. He wears a scarf and he has the least impressive name imaginable! the valiant, mighty Terry!
  • Very detailed, and engaging manga which summarizes the end of Dragon Quest Monsters 1 and picks up with its own, new protagonist Kleo. Many small and interesting details lend themselves to multiple read throughs and really a blessing just having material translated and available in English. The only downside is having to wait so long between releases of volumes. If you're a Dragon Quest or Dragon Quest Monsters fan, you owe it to yourself to pick up a copy and enjoy the new adventure that unfolds.
  • All I can say is we need more Dragon Quest manga! This manga is worth every single penny.
